Where are you located?
Instead of meeting at an office, we will meet with you in an agreed-upon location. This includes outdoors in local parks, libraries, coffee shops, bookstores, or any other place we both feel comfortable meeting.
We can also meet with you online.
What are your hours of operation?
Our hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays, 8 am to 8 pm.
How long are the sessions?
Typically, our peer support sessions are 60-90 minutes in length. However, we have flexibility to meet for a longer time if we plan to be out enjoying nature.
How do I set up the initial appointment?
Give us a call at (608) 218-5797. If we do not answer, we will get back to you within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.
Do you take insurance?
What is your cancellation policy?
We trust our services will benefit you greatly, and you will remain in communication with us throughout the process. With at least a 24-hour notice, please reach out to us via email, phone, or text message for any cancellations or need to reschedule.
If you have a no-show appointment, we will talkdiscusst is going on and how we can move forward. If you continue to no-show, we may decide to discontinue services with you. We make every effort to keep our appointments with you.
We expect you to do the same.
Whom do you work with?
We welcome and accept various clients. This includes women, men, and those identifying as white, indigenous, mixed, and people of color. We also work with those that identify as LGBTQIA+. We provide reasonable accommodations to those with mental health concerns, substance use issues, and/or physical disabilities.
We work one-on-one with each client.
What age range do you work with?
What do you actually do in a session?
The first few sessions focus on getting to know you and building a clear understanding of your challenges and goals. You will also get to know the Peer Specialist you are working with. We believe in mutuality.
After that, as you feel comfortable, we will discuss your pain, highlight your strengths, and work on possible solutions together. We also gently bring in positivity. This happens in a location of your choice, whether inside or in the great outdoors.
As you gain a more holistic understanding of yourself with your Peer Specialist’s support, we hope you will feel stronger, centered, and less alone in your struggles. As a result, you most likely will feel ready to proceed forward.
What is your animal policy?
All certified service animals are welcome at any time.
All non-certified, well-mannered dogs, on a leash and in your control, are welcome during outdoor sessions. When you call to set up your appointment, please discuss bringing your dog(s) along. If you are working with Emily, you may request that she bring her Chihuahua, Frito, to accompany you during the session. Jane and Brent currently do not have animals.
Do you offer transportation during my session time?
We can meet with you where it is most convenient for both of us. This includes along bus lines. We are unable to transport clients at this time.
What are your credentials?
We are each Certified Peer Support Specialists through the state of Wisconsin with many years of experience to offer you. This means we have lived experience with mental health and/or substance use issues, plus extensive training in Peer Support principles.
We share our paths of recovery with you to help you in your journey. Each of us genuinely listens and cares for you. We guide and emotionally support you. We are there for you when no one else is. We give you our compassion, empathy, and understanding so you may experience relief.
